A Mother's Child
By Karen Brodleit
1999

It was a bright sunny afternoon
All the flowers in the garden were in bloom.
I just knew that it would be okay
When I walked in the room.

There was a lovely smile on her face.
She didn't have to say a word.
She pointed to the windowpane
At this little Hummingbird.

It was her Mother watching over
The windowpane of hope.
A Mother's child the most precious thing in life.
She came to let her know that she was not alone
And then she flew on home.

I only knew her for a very short time.
She gave me reason to believe
That everything would be just fine.
She put my weary mind at ease.

It was fate that brought me to her
Like a friend I've known forever.
Every morning her Mother would come
To let her know she was beside her.

She is with her Mother now.
Watching over - The windowpane of love.
A Mother's Child the most precious thing in life.
They came to let me know that I am not alone
And then they both flew on home.
